"Saturday Magazine - Glances at Railroad Travelling. No. 11"

Published April 1840

Saturday Magazine according to Wikipedia (click to see complete description) was a christian sponsored British publication to assist the ordinary working man to educate himself.

This article relates the introduction and progress of the early railways of the UK and then goes on to descibe initial constituents of the LNWR namely the London and Birmingham and Grand Junction Railways.

The second half of the article is about other company railways that may be of less interest to the LNWR devotee.
